What are my responsibilities as a reseller?
As a Telopar VOIP reseller, you will identify prospects for business phone service. Likely prospects include accountants, real estate agents, financial advisers, auto and tire repair shops, hair salons, consultants, photographers, and hundreds of other small businesses. (You are probably already doing business with a dozen likely prospects.)
If you want, we can help you design a simple yellow pages ad or local newspaper ad to drive potential customers your way.
You will set up a conference call among yourself, the potential client, and the Telopar technician assigned to you. In this call, we will identify the customer’s needs, and answer any technical questions they may have. What this means to you is that you will not have to deal with any of the technical issues of business phone service.
After this call, we will telephone you and outline the features and benefits that you can offer this customer. We will also advise you on how to price the system to the customer. This phone consultation puts you in a strong position to capture this customer.
How do I make money with this system?
Each month you will bill each customer for the cost of his service. You will collect this money directly from the customer. We will bill you monthly for the cost of the services provided by us.
As a typical example, let’s say you sign up a local real estate agent as a customer. A simple 3 unit system (her office, her home, her cell phone) will probably suffice. We will bill you $45 a month for this service, including an inbound telephone number, a professional inbound calls, voice mail, outbound calls. You will bill the customer $65 for the service. You keep the $20 profit every month.
In this business, there is a very high retention rate, so you can expect to keep receiving $20 a month for the foreseeable future. Support requests should be minimal.
System installation
Installation of the phone system will normally be performed by the customer’s in-house technical person, or by the internet wiring contractor that installed the internet service at the customer’s location. Or you may choose to work directly with a local internet wiring contractor. If you are comfortable with network wiring, you may perform this service yourself.
No matter which, one of our switch technicians will be on the phone with the installer during the installation process to make sure everything goes smoothly.
Customer Equipment
The only equipment needed for a Telopar phone system are the phone handsets. All switching, routing, voicemail storage is handled at our remote server installation and delivered over the internet.
We use Cisco Linksys handsets and we will provide these, pre-programmed and ready to plug in. As your business develops, you may want to purchase these in quantity and program them yourself; we do not prohibit this.
Tech Support
You will be the primary contact for support for the customer, but you can refer any technical issues to Telopar tech support. There are several ways you can do this.
1. Conference us in on the support call as your technical staff.
2. Tell the customer that you will have a technician call him back. Then call us and give us the information that you have. We will call you back and conference the customer on the call.
3. We can set up a local phone number that will ring directly to our tech support staff. We will identify ourselves as your technical support technician.
What equipment will I need?
The only equipment you will need is a telephone, so that you can answer customer inquires, and a computer so that you can access the Telopar control panel. You can use the control panel to perform simple maintenance tasks on your customer system. You can terminate service for non payment, and make other changes to the customer’s system.
That’s it.
What will Telopar provide?
We will provide all of the server side equipment necessary to maintain a fully functional business phone system at the user’s site. This will include a Class 5 softswitch, which will connect the user’s system to the public telephone system, and will provide circuit switching as well as voice mail storage, music on hold, etc.
There will be no need for you to purchase or maintain any computer equipment or software so your necessary investment to start this business is zero.
