High Volume Asterisk Server Installations

If you have ever tried to run a high volume Asterisk server, you are probably already aware of the limitations imposed by billing and routing software. By one published account, A2Billing has been able to support up to 105 calls at a rate of 7 calls per second.(http://forum.asterisk2billing.org/viewtopic.php?p=14093) Asterbilling has been reported to handle up to 240 simultaneous calls (http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/asterBilling)

By comparison, Telopar Asterisk servers have been tested up to 2500 simultaneous calls, using a single Asterisk process (v 1.6.2), while making routing decisions for each call and creating a cdr and billing record for each call in real time.

The reason for the Telopar server’s superior performance is the proprietary optimized Java Bytecode least cost routing (LCR) software and included billing software. This software is not available separately, only on Telopar servers.

  Select a termination vendor by price and available codec; dial call to that vendor with correct dial string.

  • Weighted Round Robin

  Select termination vendors by available codec. Routes calls to available vendors in a ratio (e.g. 30% of calls to vendor A, 70% of calls to vendor B.)

• Call Billing
  • Real Time Generated CDR’s and customer invoice records to MYSQL database

  Standard Asterisk CDR log format, with a few extra filds to capture routing sequence and pricing.

  • Real Time Customer Invoicing to MYSQL database

  Captures amount billed, time of call, destination, duration of call, by customer account number.

• Performance Monitoring

5 minute delayed performance graphs show Success Rate, Failure Rate, and volume of calls to any destination.

Installation

The Telopar server is completely installed by our technical staff. It is ready to run.

The Telopar server does NOT have a graphical user interface, or a web interface. This is commercial grade carrier class system. You are expected to have the ability to make use of the Mysql tables to generate whatever user or admin interface you need.

Pricing

The Telopar server comes in a number of configurations, depending on the call volume you are predicting. The server configuration can be upgraded or downgraded at any time.

There is a one time setup charge of $149, and a charge of $25 for each upgrade or downgrade of service.
