The Telopar Global Interconnect (TGI) project is our way of helping our subscribers contact subscribers on other networks.
Say you have a friend who has a Gizmo account. You may already know that you can call this person by dialing sip:1747xxxxxxx@ proxy01.sipphone.com
Works fine as long as you are dialing from a softphone like X-Lite, which accepts alphabetic characters. But what if you are using an ATA and an analog phone. Not so easy to dial.
You can now call this person by entering **747 + the Gizmo account number. (**7471747xxxxxxx) Your call will be handed off to the Gizmo incoming server, and you will be able to talk to your friend on Gizmo.
There are now nearly 10,000 networks that you can reach from your Telopar/CallTheWorld account. And there is no cost for these calls.
Telopar currently interfaces with two major network listers:
1. SipBroker (http://www.sipbroker.org/sipbroker/action/providerWhitePages) lists nearly 10,000 networks. You can dial any network on SipBroker by putting an extra * in front of the number, and then adding the subscriber number on that network. To use our Gizmo example, SipBroker lists Gizmo as account *747; to call this number from our phones, you dial **747 plus the number. (Just add an *)
2. FreeNum.Org (http://www.iana.org/assignments/trip-parameters/) lists about 600 networks, including many smaller and private networks. To dial a FreeNum network, just dial *** followed by the subscriber number, then the FreeNum code. So to call a Vonage customer (Vonage has code 867 in the FreeNum database), just dial ***(the Vonage phone number)*867.
We also accept calls from other networks. Our SipBroker code is *9442; our FreeNum code is 1049. So anyone can call you by dialing the code plus your 7 digit account number.
